Pavilion Days in Venice

Welcome to the Pavilion of Finland’s exhibition New Standards and the Biennale Architettura 2021 in September!

Due to the circumstances caused by the coronavirus, many countries weren’t able to invite guests and network during the Biennale Architettura preview days in May. Therefore several national pavilions organise a joint two-day event on 23–24 September. The programme will include guided tours, mingling and other events.

Programme organised by Finnish commissioners:

Thursday 23rd September

Guided tours at the Pavilion of Finland in Giardini

Guests will be offered guided tours of the New Standards exhibition in English and Italian. The length of the tour is approximately 15 minutes and there is a restriction of 8 simultaneous visitors in the pavilion. 

12:30 – Guided tour in English

14:30 – Guided tour in Italian

15:00 – Official exhibition opening at the Nordic Pavilion in Giardini

The exhibition What We Share at the Nordic Pavilion is co-commissioned by the Museum of Finnish Architecture and produced by the National Museum of Norway. The exhibition in Sweden, Norway and Finland’s joint pavilion features the Norwegian architecture firm Helen & Hard.

16:00 – New Standards Book Launch at the Pavilion of Finland

The New Standards exhibition publication will be launched by curators Laura Berger and Kristo Vesikansa who will be present the book and share their thoughts on the research process. 

Friday 24th September

Guided tours at the Pavilion of Finland

12:30 – Guided tour in English

14:30 – Guided tour in Italian

15:00 – Aalto documentary film screening on Lido

Archinfo Finland presents a screening of the acclaimed documentary film Aalto (2020) in Cinema Astra, Lido. The doors will open to the public at 14:45 and 100 first arrivals will get admission. You can also reserve a place by messaging venice@archinfo.fi in advance. After the film, Associate Professor Antonello Alici will host a discussion with director Virpi Suutari. The event ends at 17:30.
