Significant donation from Nordea to Museum of Finnish Architecture

Nordea Bank Finland Plc has made a significant donation to the Museum of Finnish Architecture. The contribution of hundreds of historically valuable drawings include, to name a few, the originals for the Jugendsali interior signed by Lars Sonck himself in 1903; Selim A. Lindqvist's exquisite originals for the Aleksi 13 department store facade from 1898; and the extraordinary drawings for the refurbishment of an empire-style building from the 1830s at the Senate Square. The donation also includes several originals by the Thomé brothers as well as the whole material for the Union Bank (Liittopankki) competition held in 1926, including  Alvar Aalto's entry, about which there has been great uncertainty.Nordea's donation is one of the most precious contributions in terms of historical significance yet received by the Museum of Finnish Architecture. The conserved originals are on display for the public at the Museum of Finnish Architecture archive space (third floor) between 1–6 April 2014 during the museum's opening hours.More information: www.mfa.fi.
