Katarina Siltavuori appointed Director of Archinfo Finland
Katarina Siltavuori will start as Director of Archinfo Finland on June 15th 2020. Her predecessor Hanna Harris, who led the organisation from 2016, started as Chief Design Officer of the City of Helsinki in March. In the transition phase, Head of Communications Miina Jutila has taken on the role of Acting Director.
Art historian and curator Katarina Siltavuori has a long experience in the field of visual culture. Previously she has worked as director of Galerie Forsblom, curator at Design Museum in Helsinki, producer and expert at Ornamo Art and Design Finland and producer in the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 organisation. Since 2018, Siltavuori has been chair of Tapio Wirkkala Rut Bryk Foundation.
“Katarina Siltavuori has wide expertise in the culture field as well as experience in leadership and international collaboration. Together with Archinfo Finland’s staff’s strong competence in architecture, this generates great opportunities for the organisation to develop into an even more significant influencer and promoter of collaboration in the field of architecture. Under Hanna Harris’s direction, Archinfo Finland established itself as an able and agile operator, both domestically and internationally. During the transition period, in spite of the particularly challenging circumstances this spring, Miina Jutila has led the organisation to carry on its operations in an excellent way. This is a good place to continue,” states Archinfo Finland’s Board Chair Asko Takala.
“For most of my career, I have worked with art and design, both in established contemporary art organisations and in smaller innovative projects that have often dealt with international initiatives. I strongly believe in international – and in particular Nordic – dialogue. It is a great honour to carry on the good work that Archinfo Finland has conducted so far, and to be part of creating a new future in the field of architecture and the world in transformation,” says Katarina Siltavuori.
Founded in 2013, Archinfo Finland is an expert, collaboration and intermediary organisation in the field of architecture. Archinfo Finland aims to strengthen architecture’s social impact and promote the recognition of Finnish architecture in Finland and abroad. The organisation is maintained by the association Finnish Centre for Architecture (Arkkitehtuurikeskus ry), founded by five key architectural organisations in Finland. Archinfo Finland is the youngest of the eight information centres for art supported by Finland’s Ministry of Education and Culture.
