Esa Ruskeepää chosen to design Bildungshaus Wolfsburg in Germany

Architect Esa Ruskeepää has been chosen to design the new city library and education centre in Wolfsburg, Germany. The 16 500 m2 Bildungshaus will be located by the Klieversberg Park close to the Wolfsburg Kulturhaus designed by Alvar Aalto in 1962; and across from Hans Scharoun's City Theatre from 1973 on the other side of the park. Esa Ruskeepää (b. 1980) was the youngest and the only international competitor among the three finalists of the international architectural competition organised in 2 phases.Ruskeepää's team behind the proposal consists of architects Klemen Breitfuss, Jussi Eskelinen, Matias Kotilainen, Thomas Miyauchi, Marlène Oberli, Simon Richardus, Rubén Tomás Verde and Lauri Virkola of the Esa Ruskeepää Architects office located in Helsinki, Finland. In addition, the competition team consisted of Tita Giese from Tita Giese Pflanzenprojekte, Düsseldorf, who has designed the intriguing vegetation, and landscape architect Harald Fugmann from Fugmann Janotta Landschaftsarchitektur und Landschaftsentwicklung, Berlin. The structural engineering, energy concept and HVAC designs are by Arup, Berlin.
