Finlandia Prize for Architecture 2019 finalists shortlisted – the winner will be announced on 7 October

The winner of the sixth Finlandia Prize for Architecture will be announced on the World Architecture Day. This year the award-winning writer and artist Hannu Väisänen selects the winner.

The shortlist of the 2019 prize includes University of Jyväskylä Main Building restoration (A-Konsultit), Kruunuvuorenranta Waste Transfer Terminal (B&M Architects), Oodi Helsinki Central Library (ALA Architects) and Serpentine House refurbishment (Kati Salonen & Mona Schalin Architects).

This year the award-winning artist and writer Hannu Väisänen will select the winner. The members of the pre-selection jury in 2019 were architect, Dr Anne Stenros, architect Juulia Mikkola and architect, Professor Mikko Heikkinen. Secretary General of the Association of Finnish Architects SAFA, Paula Huotelin was the secretary of the jury. The pre-selection jury selected the five candidates from amongst buildings that have been completed within the past three years.

The prize may be awarded to either a Finnish of foreign architectural practice for a project designed for a location in Finland, or to a Finnish practice for a project completed abroad. The prize is awarded by the Association of Finnish Architects SAFA.
