Architizer A+ Awards 2015 Special Mention to the Biofore House by Helin & Co
Architect Pekka Helin and his team at Helin & Co Architects have received the Architizer A+Awards 2015 Special Mention in the Office – Mid Rise (5–15 floors) Category for their design of the Biofore House in Helsinki. The building houses the head office of the Finnish pulp, paper, timber and biofuels manufacturer UPM.[caption id="attachment_2257" align="aligncenter" width="618"] Biofore House: UPM Group head office by Helin & Co Architects (2013). The Metsätapiola office building (2012) was the winner of the Iconic Architecture 2013 award presented by Deutscher Institut für Formgebung. In 2014, the role of the office in the creation of the master plan for the former airport of Forneby in Norway was recognised by the European Council of Spatial Planners at the 10th European and Regional Planning Awards.The magnicifent holiday home in the Gullgrona archipelago – Villa Krona (2010) – was awarded with the The House through Time [Pientalo kautta aikojen] title by the Glorian Koti magazine and Puuinfo / Woodarchitecture.fi in 2012. Villa Krona was also part of the Finnish Architecture 2010/2011 exhibition curated by the Museum of Finnish Architecture. The villa has been recently published e.g. in the book Scandinavian Modern Houses 4 (Living Architecture Publishing 2015, photography by Per Nagel, text by Vibe Udsen).This year, Mika Huisman’s stunning photographs of the Seinäjoki Library (JKMM Architects, 2012) were the Popular Choice winner in the Architecture +Photography & Video category. In 2014, the A+Awards celebrated two Finnish winners: K2S and ALA.
