The 14th International Alvar Aalto Symposium "New housing solutions for cities in change" will be held on 30−31 August, 2018 in Jyväskylä, Finland.This year the symposium focuses on the current challenges and opportunities for future housing design and construction in urban areas. The theme will be explored from four specific perspectives: Cultural variables, Sharing, Adaptability and Emerging typologies. The topic emerges from a fact that urban housing and living are in a state of paradigmatic flux. For example, reducing energy consumption, increasing the density of community structures, and renovating the suburbs, as well as changes in the population demographic, all influence present housing design.The programme consists of keynote lectures and the speakers represent a wide, multidisciplinary group of professionals and experts from the fields related to the symposium theme. It is a triennial event, that brings professionals from around the world together to engage in current architectural topics.
