The selected municipalities will be offered expert support and sparring for projects that promote sustainability, beauty and inclusion in the built environment. The call is carried out in the framework of the New European Bauhaus initiative.
The Local Initiatives call is looking for inspiring, local, transformative projects that promote the three complementary values of the New European Bauhaus: sustainability, beauty and inclusivity.
The aim is to select 20 projects to receive tailored sparring and support to develop their project. The selected municipalities will be offered expert support in various fields, such as funding strategies, stakeholder mapping and digital citizen participation along with methodologies on how to integrate nature, culture and art in the design of places and buildings.
The call is open to sub-national public authorities-led projects that meet at least one of the following four objectives: (1) Renovation of existing buildings and public spaces in a circular and carbon-neutral way; (2) Conservation and transformation of cultural heritage; (3) Adaptation and conversion of buildings for affordable housing; (4) Renovation of urban or rural spaces.
Eligible are regional public authorities such as cities, municipalities, districts, provinces and their groups with less than 100 000 inhabitants.
The call will open on 30 March and close on 23 May 2022. The competition is funded through the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, in partnership with Ramboll Management Consulting.
