Alvar Aalto’s prolific career included designs for more than 100 summer homes. A carefully curated selection of these is now on display at the Alvar Aalto Museum in Jyväskylä in the delightfully sunny gallery exhibition La Dolce Vita – Summer Paradises by Alvar Aalto. The exhibition embraces the versatility of Aalto’s architecture including various versions for pre-fabricated holiday homes, competition entries as well as commissioned private villas.
A fantastic gem included in the exhibition is a film from the private collections of the Aalto family. The homely, black and white footage takes the visitor on a trip back in time to the carefree, forever sunny days at a genuine summer paradise, namely Villa Flora designed by Aino Aalto for the Aalto family in 1926.

La dolce vita – Summer paradises by Alvar Aalto from 22 May to 13 September, 2015 at the Alvar Aalto Museum, Jyväskylä.
