Arctic Design Week: New European Bauhaus
To 25.3. klo 9–11 & 17–19
Welcome to join two New European Bauhaus debates at the Arctic Design Week’s Arctic AHA! Dialogues on Thursday 25th of March.
The New European Bauhaus Initiative connects the European Green Deal to our everyday lives.
We need a new mindset. Designers, architects, engineers, scientists, experts on sustainability, all creative minds across disciplines — you included — are invited to together imagine and create a sustainable and inclusive future that also serves your sense of aesthetics.
The first debate at 9—11 CET+1 (time zone in Finland) will focus on dreams and aspirations and what good everyday life in the carbon neutral Europe could be.
The debate is a dialogue between all participants and to get the dialogue going we have invited e.g. Hanna Harris, Chief Design Officer of City of Helsinki, Julia Lohmann, Professor in Practice at Contemporary Design in Aalto University, Ulla-Kirsikka Vainio, Mayor of City of Rovaniemi, and Alessandro Rancati and Vera Winthagen, designers and policy analysts in the Commission’s New European Bauhaus Team to talk about their dreams.
The second debate at 17—19 CET+1 (time zone in Finland) has a focus on challenges — from small and local to European wide — to which we need to find solutions to enable the good life.
The dialogue between participants will be supported by invited experts, e.g. Tarja Outila, Professor on Urban Design and Planning at University of Oulu, Mika Riipi, County Governor of Regional Council of Lapland and Jyri Wuorisalo, leader of Human Security Team at Savonia University of Applied Sciences. Montserrat Marin Ferrer and Vera Winthagen from the Commission’s New European Bauhaus team will also be with us in the second debate.
The debates will be moderated by Päivi Tahkokallio, President of the Bureau of European Design Associations BEDA. BEDA is one of the first partners of New European Bauhaus Initiative.
