Archinfo Finland is in charge of the architecture exhibitions organised at the Pavilion of Finland during the Biennale Architettura.

The International Architecture Exhibition has been organised in Venice since 1980. It alternates with the International Art Exhibition, which was established in 1895. The architecture exhibition has developed into the most esteemed international arena for showcasing architecture, with 275,000 visitors in 2018.

The 17th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia will be open to the public from 23 May to 29 November 2020. The Curator is architect and scholar Hashim Sarkis, and the theme he has selected is “How will we live together?”. For more information, please visit the Biennale website.

Since the 2018 Biennale Architettura, Archinfo Finland has been appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland to act as the commissioning body of the Pavilion of Finland. For the 2020 edition, we sought for exhibition proposals through an open call. The exhibition concept will be announced in December 2019.

In 2018, the Pavilion of Finland presented the exhibition Mind-Building, a study of over 100 years of Finnish library architecture leading up to the opening of the new Helsinki Central Library Oodi. The Mind-Building catalogue may be read here.

The exhibition at the Nordic Pavilion is commissioned jointly by the Museum of Finnish Architcture, Sweden’s National Centre for Architecture and Design ArkDes and The National Museum of Norway. In 2020, Norway takes the lead in producing the exhibition.
