TAD – Tampere architecture and design week 2020
2–9 October 2020
Tampere

The annual Tampere Architecture and Design Week TAD week will be held this year 2 – 9 October 2020. TAD week, which has established itself as both local and national event, will be held for the thirteenth time. In 2020, the theme is contact.

Tampere Architecture and Design Week is an event that has already become a tradition, aimed at professionals in the creative fields, students and anyone interested in the theme. During the week, events related to architecture, urban planning, culture, arts and design will be organised in collaboration with communities, associations and companies. The main goal of the event is to maintain and promote the culture of architecture and design, to bring together professionals and future experts of the fields, and to bring architecture and design to the attention of the general public.

The current theme of 2020 contact refers to the interaction between people, things or objects. Contact means touch, interaction or link. Interactions between colours, shapes, and surfaces, connections to each other, are a central theme in the work of an architect, artist, or designer. On the other hand, contact in people-to-people interactions, both professional and private, plays a key role in building relationships and understanding between communities and creating new opportunities.

As in previous years, an open program application will be opened in early May at www.tadweek.com to ensure a diverse, innovative and inclusive programme for the event week.

The event will be produced by the Tampere Architecture and Design Association TAD ry, which started operations in autumn 2019. In addition to event production, the association’s goal is to maintain and develop co-operation, information and training between architecture and design, and to promote the preconditions for high-quality architecture and design in Tampere, Pirkanmaa and throughout Finland.
